Chinese financial services giant eyes Australian expansion

A Chinese financial services juggernaut, which is also the world’s most valuable fintech company, is extending its reach into the Australian market under a new partnership.

Ant Financial, which operates mobile payment and lifestyle platform AliPay, will work with Westfield to launch ‘Double 12’, a global shopping festival which will give shoppers at Westfield Sydney access to exclusive discounts throughout December and early January.  Following its launch into the Australian market in 2015, Alipay has been seeking opportunities to engage with Australian retailers forming partnerships across a number of sectors including aviation, banking and retail.
